Friday Finds: Videos to Celebrate Summer; Camping, On the Water or On the Road

By | Friday Find, Gorillapod, time-lapse photography | No Comments

Hello Creactives!

We are headed out to an offsite in Park City, Utah to catch up on all the summer fun that you all seem to have been experiencing. Watch this space for photos of us taking advantage of the great outdoors. In the meantime, enjoy these fun videos of other creactives taking full advantage of the elements.

Taking Down Camp Rocker Style
At times, this does not seem like the most efficient way of packing up, but eventually, like the song, these guys seem to get into the rhythm. Captured with a Canon 5D, a Gorillapod and a soundtrack to rock out to, this video let’s you see a little bit of Mount Adams and the outdoors. Even, when you are trapped inside.

Windsurfing From All Angles

This starts a little slow, but gains energy and ends up with some crazy cool angles as the sail lifts up and over head and the windsurfer takes on speed and really takes advantage of the Gorillapod and Fisheye lens.

Oh Elise

I must admit that when I hear Elise, I think of my fabulous friend (salut Elise!). Apparently, I am in the minority – in this office the Lotus Elise seems to be king. This drive in the Loire Valley is captured with new Panasonic Lumix TZ10 and of course, a Gorillapod. This guy is clearly a gear head…and please, don’t test me on what happens in minute 9 of the movie.

…and a Gorillapod Focus Press Hit

5 out 5 ain’t bad. Especially, when you aren’t selling toothpaste or other dental products. This great review of the Gorillapod Focus by Appletell makes us happy.

DIY with iPhone 4 – How to Build a Steadicam

By | creactive, DIY | 5 Comments

Hello mechanically minded photographers out there!  Here is a fun weekend project, easily explained and with some very impressive results. This step by step approach to building a Steadicam is super informative, easy to follow…of course doing it might be a whole other ball of wax.  As always, be careful when handling heat and pvc piping. Yep, Mom was right about playing with fire.

Friday Finds: AMAZING Joby Video – Joby Gets a Text

By | Friday Find, Gorillapod | No Comments

Hello Creactives!

I am always impressed by the creativity of the Joby community, but this week the bar was really raised with this awesome video by Mark Stokes which is part of a soon to be growing series entitled “The Life and Times of Joby.” This stop-motion Gorillapod love story is enchanting, hilarious and demands to be shared. Yep, it is so good it can stand by itself as a the Friday Find for the week.

Patrick Trefz Idiosyncracies Screening at Joby Labs

By | Events, Friends of Joby, Joby Inspired, Office, Photography | No Comments

Last Thursday, Joby was thrilled to host the screening of Joby Pro Team member, Patrick Trefz’s new film Idiosyncrasies. As the latest unveiling of the Joby Inspired: Wall, we also were able to refresh our walls and have added some of his awesome and inspirational surf art to our office for the next few months.

In advance of the event we spent time cleaning up the space and sprucing it up to make it look just right for the intimate event. Heidi and I bonded as we hung pictures and struggled to get it just right (yes, it is harder when the floor is uneven).

And so the event begins….

Eric shoots fabulous shots… which unfortunately will never be seen due to a theft in our office:(. Boo to thieves.

Forrest introduces Patrick Trefz and his beautifully filmed work.

Patrick sets the tone…

…and the film begins!

Some seats are better than others.

Friday Finds: Cardiac Arrests, Hacks and Horsies

By | Friday Find, Gorillamobile, Photography, Press | One Comment

Happy Friday Creactives!

Hanging From the Rafters

Making a defibrillator seem like a pleasant evening activity, this fun all-limbs in perspective of the drum cover of the Madness single ‘Cardiac Arrest’ is clearly enhanced by the Gorillapod mounted from the rafters.

Oh, The Things You Can Do With a Gorillapod

We love seeing innovative uses and not-as-intended uses of our products. The latest appeared on the Wired Gadget Lab Blog as a response to the search for the perfect iPad stand.  Love the action packed, alcohol infused description of what happened next.

I rushed to grab my trusty Joby Gorilla Mobile, pausing only to set down a bottle of cold German beer. Blinking as I moved out of the bright sun and into the cool dark interior of Gadget Lab’s Berlin outpost, I bent the jointed tripod into shape …

Ultimately, the adventure-seeking writer was able to come up with a trusty stand ready for his iPad consuming pleasure.
P.S. While we are on the subject of  iPad’s- Noah wants to make sure the world knows that the best stylus for your iPad is string cheese. Yes, we have a string cheese obsession at Joby.

Just to introduce some other animal species to the mix. This week’s Flickr photo entitled Pony’s is by SigurDD.

Friday Finds: Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Massive Gorillapods and Lovely Images

By | Friday Find, Gorillapod, Photography | 2 Comments

Hello Creactives!

It’s Friday and time to take a little trip down memory lane.

Baseball Frenzy

Last week, Joby SF celebrated the arrival of summer (or at least as much of summer as we get in San Francisco) with a trip out to the Giants game. Much fun was had by all…and the “Brown Cows” aka root beer floats were clearly a success.

Friday Finds: 360 Degrees of Time-Lapses, Egg-Timers and Self-Portraits

By | Friday Find, Gorillapod, Press, time-lapse photography | 3 Comments

Hello Creactives!

You Keep Me Spinning Round, Round, Round

A camera, a Gorillapod and a $4 egg timer combine to make the ultimate 360 degree time-lapse video.  Move over rotating restaurants,  this souped-up egg-timer is an accessible way to feel totally immersed in an activity or skyline.  Poised on top of a Gorillapod Focus, this great time-lapse video makes you feel like you are part of the conversation. For further details on how to recreate this awesome experience visit Philip Bloom’s Blog.

Vanity in the Eye of the Camera

This great New York Times piece by David Coleman titled “Me, Myself and iPhone- Mastering the Art of Taking Your Own Photo,” investigates the best way to take self-portraits in the digital age. Fueled by the increasing need to have pictures of ourselves online for work and pleasure, the self-portrait has become a must. Of course,  Gorillapods make the picture taking process more doable – or at least, so says the article.

Inspiring Skills

Check out this half and half pro. I don’t know how it is physically possibly that it doesn’t just end up as a big knot, but I guess that is where the skill lies. And, of course filmed with a Gorillapod.

Fight to the Death

Apparently, Mr. Dinosaur got creamed by Mr. Gorillatorch in a knock-down, drag out fight in the messy land of the design team’s desk.
